Flexible Patch Converts Muscle Movements into Speech

A flexible patch developed by UCLA researchers can translate vocal-cord movements into audible speech. Utilizing magnetic nanoparticles, it captures throat muscle movements and translates them via machine learning. In tests, it achieved over 90% accuracy in identifying spoken sentences. While promising, it currently recognizes only preset phrases and requires personalized algorithms for users. Further data collection is needed for scalability.
