Kerala to challenge the withholding of Presidential assent for its Bills

Kerala plans to challenge President Droupadi Murmu’s withholding of assent for Bills passed by its Legislature. The move follows her withholding of assent for several Bills, including Kerala University Laws (Amendment No. 2) Bill 2022. The State seeks a constitutional debate on the President’s decisions, intending to raise the matter before the Supreme Court on March 22. It argues that these Bills fall under State jurisdiction, questioning the need for Presidential assent.
